Yankees Take Down Athletics, 2-1
|
Oakland got a big-time effort from pitcher David Amaya, but it wasn't enough to keep the New York Yankees from winning the game, 2-1. Amaya threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Earning his 1st save of the year was Tyler Brown. The losing streak for Oakland has now reached 5 games.
New York used a clutch hit from Manny Guevara to snatch the win. The first baseman belted a 2-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Yankees ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
Guevara attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
