Mets Edge Astros, 2-1
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the New York Mets and the Houston Astros. New York won it, 2-1. New York starter Mario Espinoza was in command. Getting the save was Eric Davis, his 4th. Houston now is 16-17.
Bobby Vargas tagged a home run off Isaias Orta in the bottom of the sixth. His solo blast put the Mets on top, 2-1. In all, Vargas had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Vargas.
