Yankees Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
The New York Yankees got a strong performance from pitcher Cesar Soto, who stymied the Oakland offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Oakland Coliseum. Soto went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 7. His record improves to 3-0. The Yankees, now 22-10, have played some good baseball in the early going.
New York used the bat of Gleyber Torres to capture the win. The third baseman jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Yankees ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"Enjoyed this one," Torres told the New York Observer. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
