With designated hitter J.D. Martinez leading the charge, the Texas Rangers defeated the Houston Astros, 10-9, at Globe Life Field. Martinez, who finished 3rd in the AL in on-base percentage with .402 in 2018, went 3-4 with a home run and a triple, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Pete Fairbanks was credited with the save for Texas, his 2nd of the season. Houston falls to 1-8.

In the bottom of the seventh, Martinez put his team in front with his 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which came against Yefry Ramirez, made it 10-9, Texas.

"Fun game," said Martinez, "even when the outcome was in doubt."
