Pittsburgh Gets 5-1 Win
The Pittsburgh Pirates topped the Washington Nationals, 5-1, in National League action at Nationals Park. The standout performance belonged to Pittsburgh pitcher and Elyria, Ohio, native Eric Lauer. The winner was Lauer. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Giovanny Gallegos. Pittsburgh is off to a hot start at 5-0.

Pittsburgh used the clutch hitting of David Fry to snag the win. The catcher drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pirates ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"Eric had good arm action, good stuff," said Pittsburgh manager Sid Hamlin.
