Kansas City Defeated By Nationals, 4-1
|
Washington got a strong outing from Thomas Szapucki as the Nationals defeated the Kansas City Royals, 4-1, at Nationals Park. Matt Strahm notched his 10th save in 11 chances. The setback makes Kansas City 70-88.
The Nationals got a big at-bat from center fielder Jorge Mateo. For the game, Mateo went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Washington a 4-0 lead.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Mateo.
