Phillies Come Back Late to Top Mets, 5-3
|
The New York Mets got a sterling performance from pitcher Dylan Cease, but the Philadelphia Phillies still prevailed, 5-3. Cease threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Orion Kerkering got the save, his 12th in 17 chances. The Phillies win now puts them at 67-89.
Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Tim Anderson to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Phillies on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We did enough to win," said Anderson.
