Giants Sunk by Orioles
|
The Baltimore Orioles defeated the San Francisco Giants, 5-1, in American League action at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Baltimore pitcher Cody Morris had a standout performance. Morris, the winner, moves to 6-5. He threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 1 walk. Baltimore is now 88-65, 3½ games up in the American League East Division.
Anthony Prato had a big 3-run home run for the Orioles in the bottom of the third inning. With Baltimore leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 31-year old left-handed pitcher Jeffrey Springs and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Orioles on top, 5-0.
"Felt great, felt really good," said Morris.
