St. Louis Still On the Schneid After 6-1 Loss to Padres
The San Diego Padres picked up a win at Busch Stadium, taking down the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-1. Starting pitcher Kevin Gausman was a big reason why. In 6.2 innings, Gausman surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. The Cardinals have now dropped 7 straight.

Michael A. Taylor had a big 2-run home run for the Padres in the top of the second inning. With San Diego leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 31-year old left-handed pitcher Joey Lucchesi and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Padres on top, 3-0.

Said losing manager Kelly Woolsey: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
