Rutschman Pops Two Homers in 9-2 Win for Boston
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Oakland Athletics and Boston Red Sox get after it.
Boston catcher Adley Rutschman played a vital role in his team's 9-2 conquest of Oakland. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 4 for Boston. Nathan Eovaldi, the winner, improved to 5-9. He held Oakland to 2 runs on 3 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts.
Early in the game, Rutschman had a 3-run home run for Boston. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Red Sox on top, 5-2.
Said Boston manager Brian Wawrzynski: "Our approach was outstanding all night long."
The 4th-place Athletics have lost 6 consecutive games.
