Saggese Slugs Marlins to 5-2 Win
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 22-year old third baseman Thomas Saggese, the Miami Marlins stopped the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-2, in 9 innings. Casey Mize, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 5-7. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Marlins.
Miami used the clutch hitting of Sam Huff to snag the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Marlins ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Huff.
