Braves Popped by Yankees, 6-4
|
Alex Verdugo helped his team muscle past the Atlanta Braves, 6-4. In the game, the New York right fielder was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Colby White, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Ron Marinaccio got credit for the save for New York. It was his 6th of the year.
In the bottom of the first, Verdugo had a 2-run double for New York. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Yankees on top, 2-0.
"We ground out the win," said Verdugo. "That's all that matters."
The second-place Yankees have won 5 straight games.
