Nationals Subdue Arizona, 6-5
|
Nationals Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Washington Nationals and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Ty France made an impact in the 6-5 Washington win over Arizona. France went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Jon Gray, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 6-6. Manuel Rodriguez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 7 save opportunities.
The Nationals got a big at-bat from right fielder Will Benson. For the game, Benson was 1-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 9th double of the season gave Washington a 2-0 lead.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Benson.
At 31-41, the Nationals find themselves in third place in the National League East Division.
