Astros Fall Short, 7-6, at Seattle
|
The inspired effort of Houston catcher J.T. Realmuto was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-6, to the Seattle Mariners. Realmuto was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Dellin Betances picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-1. Yefry Ramirez was tagged with the loss. Ian Gibaut closed the door for Seattle, picking up his 5th save of the year.
Stuart Fairchild went 1-1 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs for Seattle. The 28-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Danny Coulombe. It was his 26th RBI of the season.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Seattle manager Kevin Milligan.
The victory puts Seattle at 19-38.
