Whitmarsh Baffles Charlotte Batters

Charlotte Sports Park played host to a command performance by Jon Whitmarsh of the Clearwater Threshers. In shutting out Charlotte 4-0, Whitmarsh limited the Stone Crabs to 1 hit. The 25-year-old hurler also fanned 4 and walked 2 in capturing the victory.
To date this year Whitmarsh has fashioned a 2.74 ERA over 105 innings with a 5-5 record. He has made no relief appearances with 66 strikeouts and no saves.

Pryear Blanks Threshers, 8-0

Jaheim Pryear of the Charlotte Stone Crabs permitted 5 hits, walked 2 and fanned 7 during the 8-0 shutout win over the Clearwater Threshers at Charlotte Sports Park today.
"I told him, 'You did good today,'" said Charlotte manager Carlos Almanzar. "And I told him he'd better do good again next week."
On the season Pryear has 4 wins and 4 losses and a 3.42 ERA.

Santanello Dominates Dunedin

In an impressive mound performance, Mike Santanello of the Tampa Tarpons checked the Dunedin Blue Jays on a 5-hitter and held them scoreless.
"He was getting ahead of us and keeping the ball off the plate," said Dunedin manager Brian Rupp. "Santanello kept us confused the whole game."
The Tampa hurler rang up 12 strikeouts and issued 3 walks in his 2-0 shutout victory.
Checking out his stats for the season, Santanello has racked up 10 wins and 6 losses in 19 starts, posted a 3.25 ERA, and struck out 165 batters in 130.1 innings.
