Broccoli Leads White Sox to Win
|
Leonardo Broccoli helped his team muscle past the New York Yankees, 5-3. In the game, the Chicago left fielder was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Juan Sifuentes earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-7. Danny Farrar recorded the save, making him 16 for 23.
Broccoli had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-0 fastball from Sincere Okafor, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the White Sox a 5-3 lead. It was the 15th home run of the year for Broccoli.
Broccoli said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
The last-place White Sox sport a record of 26-63.
