Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Blue Jays
|
The Toronto Blue Jays weathered an outstanding game by San Diego third baseman Fernando Tatis Jr. to topple the Padres, 7-5. Tatis Jr. was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Jairo Labourt got credit for the save for Toronto. It was his 1st of the year. The Blue Jays move to 59-29 with the win, while the Padres drop to 57-30.
Toronto used a timely hit from Tyler Freeman to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 7-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"There's no quit in this team," said Blue Jays manager Haris Money.
