5-3 Win Takes Cardinals to 43-37
|
The St. Louis Cardinals picked up a win at Busch Stadium, knocking off the San Francisco Giants, 5-3. Starting pitcher Dwight Kida played a key role in the triumph. In 7 innings, Kida surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs. Corbin Clouse recorded the save for St. Louis, his 4th of the season.
The Cardinals got a big at-bat from center fielder Matthew Bellows. For the game, Bellows was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 15th home run of the season gave St. Louis a 3-1 lead.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said St. Louis manager Anjou Alexander.
The victory gives the Cardinals a record of 43-37.
