Scrappers Rivas HL Hitter of the Week Monday, September 1st , 2053 In the twilight of his career, 35-year-old Manolo Rivas of Mahoning Valley recaptured some of the old magic last week and came away with the Heartland League Player of the Week Award. "I've been playing since I was a kid," Rivas told reporters, "but you're never too old to feel the thrill of success." Rivas outpaced the rest of the league's hitters last week, reeling off 10 hits in 27 at-bats, 2 home runs, and 8 RBIs to stake his claim to the award. This season Rivas has hit at a .237 clip and produced 70 runs batted in, 23 home runs and 60 runs. |
