Generals Get Hard-Earned Win, Stop Milkmen, 3-2
|
The Washington Generals had to overcome a fine performance from Milwaukee pitcher Bob Cuomo to grab a 3-2 win at Palmer Stadium. Cuomo allowed 1 run over 5.2 innings. Washington reliever Claude Johnson picked up the win, upping his record to 4-4. Len Dyda absorbed the loss. The Generals raised their record to 18-33.
Had Sam Brison not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Brison hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Generals.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Washington manager Matt Pulley.
