The inspired effort of Erie first baseman Ben Gossard was not enough to prevent a loss, 10-9, to the Mexico City Chupacabras. Gossard was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Mexico City has now reeled off 7 straight wins.

The decisive blow was delivered by Pat Van Blarcom in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Kevin Menley to win the game for Mexico City. The home crowd went nuts.
