Scrappers Sneak By Dogs, 3-2
|
Mahoning Valley Scrappers starter Edmund Dippel hurled his team past the Chicago Dogs, 3-2. Cliff Offredi snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 2-0 on the season. The Dogs fall to 11-16 and continue their lackluster start to the 2053 season.
José Montés had a timely hit for Mahoning Valley in the top of the tenth. With one out and a runner on 1st, Montés hit a 2-run home run off Ikerne González. It put the Scrappers in front, 3-1.
Chicago manager Kenny Diaz said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
