Slide Continues for Grizzlies
|
The Erie Seawolves converted a terrific effort from starter Pat Oatley into a win over the Vancouver Grizzlies at Safeco Field. The Seawolves won the game by a final score of 8-2. In 6.2 innings, Oatley surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Getting the save was Dave Thomas, his 2nd.
Clarence Bellotti was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks for Erie. The two-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring single off Greg Taliaferro. It was his 25th hit of the season.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Erie manager Skye Bolt.
The Seawolves, now 18-7, have been red hot.
