Pierce Socks 2 Homers in 7-2 Win
|
A 5-RBI performance from the former first round draft pick Benjamin Franklin Pierce helped the Chicago Dogs beat the Washington Generals, 7-2. Edmund Dippel picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 1-3. The win gives Chicago a record of 9-8.
With Chicago trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Pierce hit a screwball from Mike Laino for a 3-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Dogs ahead, 3-1.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Pierce. "Those qualities define our team."
