9 Straight Wins for Millers
|
The Charlotte Knights got a sterling performance from pitcher Bernardo Piña, but the Minneapolis Millers still prevailed, 5-2. Piña threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Juan Guajardo, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Ed Fish earned the save for Minneapolis, his 4th of the year.
Minneapolis used the timely hitting of Neritan Murati to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Millers ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"A great game, a great day," said Murati about the win. "I can't complain."
Minneapolis, now 11-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.
