|
Austin beat New York on the strength of starting pitcher Kai-shek Thean's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. The Bats, now 9-4, have played some good baseball in the early going.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the second. That's when Bats first baseman Jim Gillcrist hit a fastball from Cam Darmon for a 2-run single. Just like that, Austin was up, 2-1.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Austin manager Claas Spitsbaard. "It's usually not just one thing."
