Chicago Gets 9-5 Win Against Liberty
|
The Chicago Dogs beat the Philadelphia Liberty, 9-5, at New Northwest Stadium. The Dogs got a fine performance from first baseman Alex Casciola, who went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Phil Barrale, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-1. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. The victory makes Chicago 3-7.
Casciola had a timely hit for Chicago in the bottom of the sixth. With Philadelphia trailing 3-2, he turned a 1-1 cutter into a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season, making it 5-3, Chicago.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Casciola said. "We did a good job of that today."
