Surf Dawgs Beaten By Millers, 6-5
|
Starting pitcher Kevin Lijewski pitched well enough to help the Minneapolis Millers beat the San Diego Surf Dawgs, 6-5. The winner was Lijewski. He threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was César Santana. San Diego, with the loss, is still a stout 5-2.
Danny Berry had a big 2-run home run for the Millers in the top of the sixth inning. With Minneapolis leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from César Santana, who finished 5th in the FL in ERA with 2.96 in 2054, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Millers on top, 3-0.
Berry told a Minneapolis Citizen reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
