Generals Edge Empire, 6-5
|
Joel Taylor did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the New York Empire from being beaten, 6-5, to the Washington Generals at Gateway Field. Taylor was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Leon Gadberry picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Randy Wagstaff, who finished 2nd in the HL in saves with 35 in 2048, was tagged with the loss. António Durán closed it out for his 1st save.
Jeff Greene came through with a big-time hit for Washington. The right fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 6-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It was a solid team effort," said Greene after the game.
New York falls to 2-5.
