Dogs Outmuscle Washington, 13-10
|
Washington right fielder Mike Chachere had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Chachere belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice, even as Chicago beat the Generals, 13-10. Daniel Ortíz got the win, improving to 5-10. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. The Dogs sport a record of 62-95.
The Dogs got a big at-bat from catcher Bob Lamparter. For the game, Lamparter was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Chicago a 5-3 lead.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Chicago manager Felix Hernandez.
