Knights Handed 5-1 Loss by Nashville
|
Nashville starter Juan Vargaz put a stranglehold on the Charlotte offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Outlaws to a 5-1 win. Vargaz, the winner, moves to 12-11. He threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 4 walks. Walt Olenik, credited with the save, is now 1 for 2 in save opportunities.
The Outlaws got a big at-bat from center fielder Frank Gallagher. For the game, Gallagher went 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 18th home run of the season gave Nashville a 2-0 lead.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Outlaws manager Billy Hollis, "I like our chances."
At 67-84, the Outlaws claim 6th place in the Frontier League.
