Seawolves Drop Milkmen, 5-4
|
The Erie Seawolves picked up a win at Safeco Field, dropping the Milwaukee Milkmen, 5-4. Lou Cowick, who is tied for 7th in the FL in innings pitched with 178.0, was the difference-maker. The winning pitcher was Cowick, now 10-14. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Curt Pope earned his 30th save in 34 chances.
Erie second baseman Joe Ianniello contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 85th hit of the season and put the Seawolves ahead, 5-1.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Milwaukee manager Nate Lee. "The effort was great."
The Milkmen, now 63-84, have lost 4 straight.
