Charlotte Gets 6-3 Win
|
Jarred Malone was instrumental in his team's 6-3 triumph over the Minneapolis Millers. The first baseman went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk for the Charlotte Knights. Bernardo Piña, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 6-10. Ed Wehrman converted his 7th save in 9 tries.
In the top of the fifth, Wayne Rooney delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Charlotte first baseman hit a 2-run single, putting the Knights in front, 6-3.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Rooney.
Charlotte is now 62-84.
