For the home crowd, it was a thrilling walk-off win.
Washington pitcher Anastasio Soto gave the Samurai all they could handle, but in the end, China Grove left Thunderdome with a win, 2-1. Soto allowed no runs on 3 hits over 6.2 innings. China Grove reliever Jorge Rodríguez picked up the win, upping his record to 3-4. Claude Johnson was saddled with the loss.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with China Grove trailing 1-0, Anthony Bridgerton jumped on a 2-2 sinker from Claude Johnson for a 2-run home run, sending the Samurai to a walk-off win.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Bridgerton, "and go after the next one."
The Samurai sit in 6th place in the Heartland League with a record of 65-79.
