Manchester Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Chicago Dogs got a superb performance from pitcher Daniel Ortíz, but the Manchester Marauders still won the game, 6-5. Ortíz threw 7.0 innings of 1-hit ball. Manchester pitcher Beau Berkowitz got the win. He's now 11-7. Jesús Bruno was tagged with the loss. The last-place Dogs have lost 4 straight games.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Manchester trailing 5-4, Tim Carter hit a fastball from José Valdéz to left for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Marauders had a walk-off win.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Manchester manager Anthony Phillips.
