The Charlotte Knights knocked off the New York Empire, 5-2, in Frontier League action at The Horse Shoe. Charlotte pitcher and Riverside, California, native Mike Pleva had an outstanding performance. In 6.1 innings, Pleva surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Hsin-ping Ling, credited with the save, is now 12 for 17 in save opportunities.
The Knights got a big at-bat from designated hitter José Bernard. For the game, Bernard was 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 13th double of the season gave Charlotte a 4-2 lead.
