The China Grove Samurai downed the New York Empire, 3-0, at Thunderdome. Stellar pitching by Danny Shuler had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is a three-time All-Star, handcuffed his opponent all game. Ron Minsky recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 35 for 42. The Samurai lead the Heartland League by 7 games.

Donnie Runchey had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the fourth for China Grove. With the bases loaded and the Samurai leading 1-0, he hit a sacrifice fly.

"I just kind of blacked out and executed my pitches," said Shuler.
