|
Leon Gadberry pitched a gem to lead Washington to victory over the New York Empire, 4-1. The winning pitcher was Gadberry, now 11-9. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. By defeating New York, the last-place Generals improved to 59-66.
Anthony Werstein hit a 2-run double off Jim Shue in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Generals in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Werstein had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
