Bats Defeat Dogs, 4-3
|
With center fielder Willie Mays Hayes leading the charge, the Austin Bats defeated the Chicago Dogs, 4-3, at New Northwest Stadium. Hayes, who is tied for 10th in the HL in triples with 4, was 4 for 6 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk. Mike Banky finished to wrap up his 1st save. The slumping Dogs have dropped 6 in a row.
Austin used the timely hitting of Enrico Montoya to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Bats on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Hayes called the win "a collective effort."
