Blues Edge Dogs, 4-3
|
The Memphis Blues picked up a win at Gateway Field, taking down the Chicago Dogs, 4-3. Starting pitcher Kevin Leibowitz was a big reason why. Leibowitz, now 10-12, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Sheridon Raffles earned his 5th save in 10 chances.
The Blues got a big at-bat from second baseman Héctor Castro. For the game, Castro went 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 8th double of the season gave Memphis a 4-2 lead.
"I'm a bit of a clubhouse prankster," said Castro. "But it's all business when we're on the field."
The win gives Memphis a season record of 63-55.
