Outlaws Win Close Shave, 3-2
|
The Nashville Outlaws and Austin Bats put on quite a show.
The Nashville Outlaws took Austin pitcher Iván Álvarez's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Olympic Stadium. The final score had Nashville getting past the Bats, 3-2. Álvarez went 6 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 6. Nashville reliever Joey Liva was the winner. His record is now 6-1. The losing pitcher was Chris Calise.
The most significant at-bat for Nashville came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the ninth. Outlaws designated hitter Jed Mergenthal hit a 2-run double to win the game.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Mergenthal said in his postgame press conference.
The 6th-place Outlaws have won 4 straight.
