Seawolves Clock Milkmen, 16-3
|
The Erie Seawolves easily defeated the Milwaukee Milkmen, 16-3, at Safeco Field, with designated hitter Esteban Reyes a main contributor to the win. He went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 and driving in 6 for Erie. The winner was Jonathan Reese, who threw 78 pitches over 5 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits. The 5th-place Seawolves have won 4 straight.
Reyes contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing double, for Erie in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 2-0, Reyes took a changeup from Sam Trucke and stroked the double to center. His 27th double of the season allowed the Seawolves to leap in front, 3-2.
Milwaukee manager Nate Lee called the loss "a monumental failure."
