Vander Laan Helps Seawolves Beat Milkmen, 12-4
|
The Erie Seawolves stopped the Milwaukee Milkmen, 12-4, at Safeco Field. The Seawolves got a big game from Pat Vander Laan, who went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Dave Griffith picked up the win with 8 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 9. On the season, he is now 5-6. The Milkmen, at 44-65, have lost 4 straight games.
Erie center fielder Joey Trojanowski contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball into right-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 122nd hit of the season and put the Seawolves ahead, 3-1.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Vander Laan said.
