Blues Make Samurai 3-2 Losers
|
The Memphis Blues got a stellar performance from pitcher Kevin Leibowitz, who handcuffed the China Grove offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Thunderdome. Leibowitz went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 9-11. Dan Thiner was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 19 save opportunities.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Dave Goff was at the plate when Memphis scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Blues to go in front, 3-2.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Leibowitz.
The triumph puts Memphis at 59-49 for the season.
