Bats Earn 5-4 Win Versus Milkmen
|
The Austin Bats had to overcome a big game from Milwaukee right fielder Ed Neidhardt to leave Dell Diamond with a victory. And they did, winning 5-4. Neidhardt went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Austin pitcher José Rosas got the win. He's now 4-3. Len Dyda was tagged with the loss. The triumph puts Austin at 53-53 for the season.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Austin third baseman Jim Gillcrist, facing Len Dyda, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Bats the 5-4 win.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Gillcrist. "And not try to do too much."
