Millers Lose By a Run at Nashville, 3-2
|
The Nashville Outlaws eked out a 3-2 win versus the Minneapolis Millers at Olympic Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Jeff Werstein. He was terrific. The 6th-place Outlaws improved to 48-56.
The Outlaws got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jed Mergenthal. For the game, Mergenthal was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Nashville a 2-0 lead.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Mergenthal told the Nashville Times.
