Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Philadelphia Liberty and Milwaukee Milkmen.

Philadelphia got a strong outing from Sandy Strausser as the Liberty defeated the Milwaukee Milkmen, 3-1, at Milkmen Ballpark. Philadelphia reliever José Salinas picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Steve Beacon took the loss.

Philadelphia relied on the bat of Scottie Patterson to get the win. The first baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Liberty ahead, 2-1. For the game, Patterson had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Liberty manager , "I like our chances."

The second-place Liberty have won 6 in a row.
