Minneapolis Millers starter Kevin Lijewski hurled his team past the Milwaukee Milkmen, 3-2. In 5 innings, Lijewski surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 5. He allowed no runs. Ed Fish notched his 18th save in 20 chances.
The Millers got an important contribution from right fielder Ernie Rydzewski, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a first pitch forkball into left-center for a solo home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Millers ahead, 3-0.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Milwaukee skipper Nate Lee.
The 7th-place Milkmen have lost 4 consecutive games.
