Dogs Win Squeaker, 2-1, Over Empire
|
The Chicago Dogs, behind a great outing from Jayson Sheppard defeated the New York Empire, 2-1, at New Northwest Stadium. The win was credited to four-time All-Star Rob D'Orazio in relief. His record improves to 5-5. Jorge Gutiérrez took the loss. New York has now lost 4 consecutive games.
Chicago got a clutch hit from José de la Riva. The catcher launched a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
"Tough loss," said New York manager Jack Albright. "The kind that burns a little inside."
