Generals Rocked By Bats, 11-2
|
The Austin Bats beat the Washington Generals, 11-2, at Palmer Stadium. Austin first baseman Jeremy Bosh had an outstanding performance. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 6. The Generals have now dropped 6 straight.
Jim Gillcrist had a big bases-clearing double for the Bats in the top of the fifth inning. With Austin leading 3-1 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Leon Gadberry, who finished 2nd in the HL in ERA with 2.41 last year, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bats ahead, 6-1.
"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Washington manager Doug Carney. "They smoked us."
